Bandi Chhor: The Great Liberator
When Jahangir agreed to release the Guru, the Guru refused to leave unless the 52 kings were also freed. The Emperor stipulated that only those who could hold his cloak could leave. The Guru had a special cloak made with 52 tassels, allowing every king to walk out to freedom. He arrived in Amritsar on Diwali, a day celebrated as Bandi Chhor Divas.
