The Birth at Patna
Born as Gobind Rai while his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, was traveling in the East. Legend tells of Pir Bhikan Shah, a Muslim mystic who saw a divine light in the sky and traveled to Patna, placing two bowls of milk and water before the child to test his affinity. The infant placed his hands on both, symbolizing he would be a protector of all people, regardless of creed.
