The Birth of the Khalsa

On Vaisakhi day, the Guru emerged from a tent with a drawn sword and demanded a head for the faith. Five times he called, and five brave men stepped forward. He baptized them with Amrit (nectar stirred with a double-edged sword), creating the Khalsa. In an act of ultimate humility, the Guru then knelt and asked the 'Panj Pyare' to baptize him, becoming both the Master and the Disciple.
