The Emperor in the Kitchen
Emperor Akbar visited the Guru and, following the Guru’s rule, sat on the floor among commoners to eat Langar. Impressed by the humility and the sight of thousands being fed for free, Akbar offered a large gift of land. The Guru politely refused, stating that the Langar must be supported only by the honest labor of the devotees.
