The Foundation of Akal Takht
The Guru refused to use the Mughal throne and instead built the Akal Takht (The Throne of the Timeless) facing the Golden Temple. He laid the foundation himself and sat there as a sovereign, holding court, listening to bards sing heroic ballads, and receiving gifts of horses and weapons.
