Sikh Sakhis · Origins & Gurus · Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
The Supreme Sacrifice
On November 11, under a massive banyan tree, the Guru was beheaded while in prayer. A sudden, massive storm swept through Delhi, allowing Bhai Jaita to recover the Guru’s head and Bhai Lakhi Shah to carry the body away. He became the 'Hind-di-Chadar' (The Shield of India), the only prophet in history to die for the religious freedom of a faith not his own.
